Self Isolation - 8 days in. How many to go? Who knows?
This must seem a strange diary page after 4 years of not writing my diary. Unprecedented times everyone keeps saying so I thought it was ok to write a less than normal page. I guess I have, in the past, written about antiques and their effect on my life. Well I can certainly say nothing has had a greater effect on my life than COVD19. It has made me assess where my small business is leading me - quite frankly, nowhere. It's not good enough to have a passion for something, in my case French antiques and antiques in general. It's all it's all wrapped up in your ability to market your product, your use of technology in particular social media, compete with misinformation on TV programmes etc.
So here I am, in the middle of lock down, in a foreign country albeit beautiful New Zealand with no hope of selling any of my stock. No, I agree my sales are not important. There are far more problems for retailers and many will go out of business. No, that's not why I'm writing this page it's to say how I intend to use the weeks or months ahead to reflect and look at what is important.
